Adele

Adele posed for an elegantly put together Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot spread while talking about everything from ridding of the booze to her highly publicized vocal cord surgery. Highlights from Adele's interview are as follows.
On her 'loud' personality: ?I am quite loud and bolshie,? she says (British slang for unruly and clamorous). ?I?m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud.? Indeed. There is no doubt when Adele is in the building. The rule of thumb for protecting one?s vocal cords, she tells me, is: If people are more than an arm?s length away, you shouldn?t talk to them. ?But I am like, Wah! Wah! Wah!,? she says, laughing. ?It?s really bad.?
On giving up drinking last May: ?Don?t like drinking anymore. I think I got it out of my system. D?yaknowhaImean??
On her vocal troubles: ?I?ve been singing properly every day since I was about fifteen or sixteen and I have never had any problems with my voice, ever. I?ve had a sore throat here and there, had a cold and sung through it, but that day it just went while I was onstage in Paris during a radio show. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.? She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks? rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. ?That was a hemorrhage... a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend?s wedding on October 1.?
On getting support through her surgery from other artists: ?John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey?s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don?t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.?
On her six Grammy nominations: ?I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.? [gallery=821]

Justin Bieber's Michael Jackson Connection? Michael Madsen

Bieber's 'As Long As You Love Me' offer 'took me off guard,' says Madsen, who also starred with MJ in 2001.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P>Justin Bieber tweeted that when he was looking for inspiration for his "As Long As You Love Me" video, there was no one he wanted to emulate more than Michael Jackson.</P><P>Coincidentally, when he needed someone to play his foe in the clip, he looked no further than a guy who has some experience working with Jackson.</P><P>That man is Michael Madsen, who appeared in Jackson's 2001 gangster-themed video for "You Rock My World" off his <i>Invincible</i> album. Oddly enough, the only people that have ever really asked the hard-edged actor to appear in videos happen to be Bieber and Jackson.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Madsen Has A Soft Spot For Justin Bieber" id="vid:822276" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"Hardly ever [am I asked to be in videos], that was why it was kind of funny cause that doesn't usually happen," he told MTV News. "It came out of nowhere. It was the last thing in the world I expected, to be called by Justin Bieber. It was kind of funny. It took me off guard. It's not the usual thing people think of me for, but considering the role, maybe."</P><P>In the video, Madsen plays a tough guy who beats up Bieber after the teen ignores his request to stay away from his daughter. It was that cinematic storyline that got Madsen interested.</P><P>"I didn't want to imagine myself on a trampoline with a lollipop, so I asked for the story. I realized it was almost like a film production; and of course, I kind of figured that it might be an interesting thing to do," he said about the Anthony Mandler-directed video. "I didn't know what to expect... I was surprised... They got me a good wardrobe. That was my shirt though. I brought my own shirt; those kinds of shirts are kind of rare.</P><P>"The story is so much Shakespearian; the couple, they run off together out the window," he later continued. "It's rather like that, I thought that was interesting. And I thought the kid, he had an enormous talent and he was very gracious to my sons and was very gracious to my family."</P><P>It was actually those sons that convinced the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing "Kill Bill" star to make the video with Bieber. "Well I was surprised at first that the kid was interested in having me be part of his video," he recalled. "I went to my sons and I asked my boys, I asked my sons what they thought if I should if they thought I should do it or not. And, of course, they gently placed their hand on my shoulder and said 'Dad don't you realize who Justin Bieber is?' And I said 'Well, no, actually I didn't.' But with their blessing I decided I thought it might be interesting."</P><P><i>Do you think Michael Madsen's appearance in "As Long As You Love Me" bumps Bieber to MJ status? Let us know in the comments!</i></P><P></P>

Lil Wayne, T.I., Wiz Khalifa To Get 'Sleazy' With Ke$ha

Tip confirms second remix in the works for track, which previously featured a remix verse from Andre 3000.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P>Ke$ha's already gotten "Sleazy" with Andre 3000. Now, a few more rappers want to get dirty with the glittery pop singer.</P><P>XXLmag.com reports that T.I. plans to jump on the track, and Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa will also be joining Andre and Tip on a new version of "Sleazy." Weezy should be a welcome addition to Ke$ha's dance tune, as it sounds somewhat like Wayne's single "A Milli." And while not much else is known about the remix, T.I. promised that he's going to go big with his verse.</P><P>"I haven't heard anybody but mine. ... I'm gonna put my money on mine," the newly freed rapper, who ended an 11-month prison sentence in September, told the website.</P><P>The Andre 3000 remix dropped earlier this year and appears on K-Dollar Sign's album <i>Cannibal.</i> The guys will have a lot of swagger to compete with because when Andre appeared on the first remix, he had this to say: "We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn't forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he'll remember/ If not, he's human, I'm human, you human, we'll forgive him/ I call her Keisha, she like it because it's 'hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I'm good to her."</P><P>Tip told XXLmag.com that his appearance on the Ke$ha song is just one of many remixes he's amped about. He has also worked on remixes for Meek Mill and Rick Ross's "Ima Boss," as well as Jay-Z and Kanye West's <i>Watch the Throne</i> song "N---as in Paris."</P><P>"I'm looking for some more records to jump on," he said. "That's what I'm doin' right now. I'm commandeering hit records right now. I'm hijacking hit records. If you got a hit, I'm on it."</P><P><i>Are you looking forward to the new "Sleazy" remix? Tell us in the comments!</i></P>
