Beyonce's Baby, Britney's Betrothal And More: 2012 Predictions

We forecast the year that will be for your favorite stars, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Welcome to 2012, the year that will either bring us the end of civilization as we know it or perhaps flying cars (finally!) Of course, between those two events, there's also going to be a presidential election, the London Olympics and that last "Twilight" movie (finally x 100!), not to mention a whole lot of activity within the lives of your favorite stars, too: Babies, weddings, honorary doctorates in nanotechnology; this is the year it'll all happen.

Which is why, with the new year upon us, I've decided to get my Kreskin on with these predictions for 2012. Don't ask me to gaze deep into my crystal ball and try to foresee who'll win the White House or the World Series, because, seriously, if I knew that, don't you think I'd be wagering right now? Instead, I'm tackling the important topics. Here's my 2012 forecast for the Beyoncés and Britneys of the world ... partly cloudy, with a zero-percent chance of accuracy.

» Beyoncé and Jay-Z will welcome a daughter, who, upon her, uh, release, will also release her debut single, "Run the World (Me)."

» Adele will win every single Grammy, including a stunning upset of Eres Un Farsante in the Best Regional Mexican Or Tejano Album category.

» Britney Spears and Jason Trawick will tie the knot in an elaborate, multi-denominational ceremony held — eh, I don't even care enough to finish this one.

» Katy Perry, having finally run out of singles to release off Teenage Dream, will spend the entirety of 2012 shooting videos for objects around her house. Her hits will include "Toaster," "KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer" and "This Towel Set Someone Gave Russell and I for Our Wedding That We Keep in the Guest Bathroom."

» Dr. Dre will indefinitely scrap Detox and instead drop a more age-appropriate album called The Chronic Arthritis.

» Lady Gaga will wear a crazy hat or something.

» Rihanna will release six albums in 2012, each more raunchy than the last. Titles include Speculum, [Censored] [Censored] On My [Censored], and Songs About F---ing, which, oddly, will be a note-for-note remake of Big Black's Songs About F---ing.

» Dave Grohl is sure to do something awesome.

» Drake's sweater game will become so advanced that he will surpass Bill Cosby as the world's foremost expert on multi-hued knitwear. On a related note, he will also release a comedy album called To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With.

» Nicki Minaj will stun the fashionistas when she appears at the annual Met Ball wearing a nice pantsuit she bought at Bealls.

» Justin Bieber will finally get that bike without the training wheels, since he's a big boy now.

» The Black Keys, buoyed by the success of their "Lonely Boy" video, will shoot another dance-only clip for "Gold on the Ceiling," this one set at Gallagher's 2000 and featuring nothing but topless women. Surprisingly, it will become the most-viewed music video in the history of everything.

» Lil Wayne will come full circle, get a tattoo of his face on his face.

» Guns N' Roses will reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April, only with that dude who plays a guitar shaped like a foot filling in for Slash and Tommy Stinson replacing Duff on bass. So, actually, it won't be Guns N' Roses at all.

» Coldplay's Chris Martin is just going to be fingerpainting everything.

» Rick Ross will be named the Memphis Restaurant Association's Restaurateur of the Year for his tremendous achievements in Wingstop-ery.

» Kanye West will literally explode.

» Fans of Skrillex will stop and realize that, in 1997, EDM was poised take over America too, and we ended up with Limp Bizkit as a result.

Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse Top Fans' Hologram Wish-Lists

Departed artists like Whitney Houston, Queen's Freddie Mercury and John Lennon also get mentions from fans in Times Square.
By Kate Callahan

NEW YORK — After the Tupac hologram performance at Coachella made such a huge splash, the team behind the projection system floated the possibility this week of an Elvis hologram to perform with Justin Bieber. Even '90s girl group TLC is rumored to be considering a virtual version of the late Left Eye on their upcoming tour.

With all that talk, MTV News hit Times Square to ask fans which departed artists they would most like to see perform in hologram form. While some of those interviewed wanted to see other rappers like the Notorious B.I.G. or Nate Dogg, one fan thought Whitney Houston should get the honors.

"I love her, I grew up singing her [songs], just walking around the house when I was seven or eight," Shayana of Houston said.

Brits Amy Winehouse and John Lennon of the Beatles were also popular picks, and a few rock fans mentioned Queen's flamboyant frontman. "It would have to be Freddie Mercury because Queen were one of the all-time greatest bands and he was a showman," said a fan named Rob.

Blane Mader would like to see a hologram of another great showman, Michael Jackson.

"It's a really cliché answer, but in my time I've never seen him and it would just be something awesome to watch," Mader said of the King of Pop.

Members of the Jackson 5 recently announced that they would love to have a virtual Michael on their upcoming Unity Tour. "Wouldn't that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael's Cirque du Soleil show," Michael's brother Jackie Jackson told E! News.

Share your wish-list for future hologram performers in the comments below!

Kate Moss Channels Morticia Addams for Halloween Bash

Out for a little Halloween night fun, Kate Moss made her way through the streets of London on Wednesday on her way to Jonathan Ross's Halloween party (October 31).

Dressed as Morticia Addams, the 38 year old model was accompanied by her husband Jamie Hince and their daughter Lila Grace for the spooktacular bash.

The party, thrown every year by Ross, featured a castle theme complete with a dungeon while drawing out Gwen Stefani, Holly Willoughby, Stephen Fry and Danielle Lineker.

Ross' neighbors also got in to the spirit, adding a giant spider and cobwebs to their home.

Can Selena Gomez Top VMA Vets Beyonce And Rihanna?

Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj also up for Best Female Video at September 6 show.
By Jocelyn Vena

The girl power will be at an all-time high Thursday, September 6, thanks to the ladies nominated for Best Female Video at the 2012 Video Music Awards. With everyone from pop mavens to R&B goddesses duking it out for a Moonman this year, whoever ends up taking it home might just have the most diva moment of the night.

Most of the nominees in the Best Female category have been there and done that at the VMAs. But there's one young lady who has yet to taste the glory of a nomination. That rookie, however, will have to fend off these VMA vets for that coveted trophy. So will Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj or Selena Gomez go all the way? MTV News breaks down their nominated videos!

Beyoncé, "Love on Top"
B made the 2011 VMAs all her own when she put her baby bump on full display during her "Love on Top" performance, but it's the subsequent video for the 4 track she's nominated for this year. Inspired by acts like New Edition, the simple performance clip features the Queen surrounded by several male backup dancers as she sashays in body-hugging outfits. Having already won 11 VMAs in the past, it's hard to deny her history of nabbing the prize.

Katy Perry, "Part of Me"
Riding high off an impressive 2011 Video Music Awards, during which the star took home a handful of awards and became a first-time winner at the show, the video for "Part of Me" showed off yet another side of the eye-popping pop star. The Marine-themed clip follows a heartbroken Perry as she shaves off her hair and enlists for service. Taken from her Teenage Dream re-release, Perry decided to forgo her love of aliens and whipped-cream bras to get serious and hit the ground running in the race for Best Female Video.

Nicki Minaj, "Starships"
With only one Moonman to her name (Best Hip-Hop Video for "Super Bass" at last year's show), Minaj's neon-hued beach video from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded might help her win another one. Considering it features a scantily clad Nicki cavorting on the beach surrounded by tribal dancers and partygoers at a bonfire rave, the Anthony Mandler-directed video feels like the kind of over-the-top eye candy tailor-made to win a VMA.

Rihanna, "We Found Love"
It's been five years since Rihanna took home a Moonman, previously winning two for "Umbrella." Following a self-destructive couple, the "We Found Love" video stirred up a lot of controversy when fans thought it might be referencing her own split from Chris Brown. Well, considering the scope and message of her Melina Matsoukas-directed video, now might be her year to nab another piece of hardware.

Selena Gomez & The Scene, "Love You Like a Love Song"
Gomez may have hosted the 2011 VMA pre-show, but this year she's upping her game as a nominee with the trippy video for her dance-floor love song. The dreamy clip follows the singer as she's taken from a karaoke club and travels through the '80s in varying setups ranging from a muse inspired by "Amadeus" to a rockabilly babe. Can the unusual clip help the When the Sun Goes Down singer beat these seasoned vets? Only time will tell.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Head to VMA.MTV.com now through August 24 to vote for your favorites, or text BNA to 22444 to vote for Best New Artist all the way through the show!
