'The Raven' actress reveals to MTV News she spends 'a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair — though not as long as Spock.'
By Kara Warner
Much like the lock and key that all "Star Trek" plot details were kept under during filming the first time around, the same goes for the untitled "Trek" sequel. We know which key players are back in place, alongside new additions Benedict Cumberbatch, as the unidentified villain, and actress Alice Eve, but we don't know exactly how the sequel's story will unfold.
When MTV News caught up with Eve recently during the press day for her upcoming period thriller "The Raven," we attempted to find out a few more details about what character she might be playing in asking how long she spends in the makeup chair each day before filming.
"I'm a healthy amount of time in the makeup chair — though not as long as Spock," Eve revealed. "We were filming until very late last night, and I know that's all I can say. It's a top-secret operation; it's like a war."
Although Eve is new to the "Trek" family, two of her co-stars are very familiar faces, Cumberbatch and Simon Pegg, with whom Eve worked on "Starter for 10" and "Big Nothing," respectively. When asked how the reunion has been, Eve broke out into a wide grin, saying, "Both of them I've worked with before, and it's a true, true pleasure to see them again. Really fun."
Eve went on to tease that her fans will be surprised by "a few things" about her performance in the film and re-emphasized the fact that she's having a blast on set. "I'm having a lot of fun, and it's a very special experience to be on J.J.'s [Abrams] movies," she said. "He's a real good leader."
The British beauty has equated the atmosphere on set with going to camp or school. "When there's a group of people who you can spend time with and work with and get to know, a real good experience, it's kind of like going back to university or something, when everyone has got the same objective," Eve told MTV News. "There's a lot of energy, and it's a nice thing to be a part of that group. That's the thing that excites me most about it. Obviously, there is a huge legacy there with 'Star Trek' and the fanatics, so hopefully they'll be satisfied."
Check out everything we've got on "Star Trek 2."

The sexy Latin Night performances on Dancing with the Stars left two couples battling it out to remain on the dance competition. Unlike previous weeks, when the couple with the lowest number of votes was automatically booted out of the ballroom, this week it was the judges' choice.

I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.
When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."
B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.
I hated her.
Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.
WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?
Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?
Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.
I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

Both groups represent 'purest forms of hip-hop music,' Joe tells MTV News, commenting on recent Mobb Deep drama.
By Rob Markman
Mobb Deep's musical legacy is cemented. There aren't many groups in rap who could match Havoc and Prodigy's reputation for crafting unfiltered street music, so when Mobb Deep appeared to be in turmoil last week, fans feared the worst. Fat Joe, for one, is thrilled that all the drama is behind the Queens, New York, duo.
Joe Crack actually likens the Mobb to another pivotal rap duo, Gang Starr. The group, which consisted of DJ Premier and late rapper Guru, was responsible for quite a few classic singles, including "Step in the Arena" and "DWYCK." Mobb Deep, of course, also have favorites under their belt, like 1995's "Shook Ones Pt. II" and the Lil' Kim-assisted "Quiet Storm" remix.
"Mobb Deep is equivalent to Gang Starr with being one of the purest forms of hip-hop music," Fat Joe told MTV News after a taping of MTV2's upcoming "Hip Hop Squares." "Whenever you want to go do an ill, hard-core hip-hop song that crosses over in the clubs, anybody who makes it is like, 'Yo, this is like "Shook Ones," this is like "Quiet Storm." ' They the kings of that."
On April 9, some pretty vicious messages directed at Prodigy were sent from Havoc's now-defunct Twitter account. The messages threatened physical violence and questioned Prodigy's sexuality. Sources close to Mobb Deep initially confirmed to MTV News that Hav's account wasn't hacked, but later that evening Havoc released a statement saying that he lost his phone and declaring his allegiance to the group and Prodigy. "To all Mobb Deep fans: it's business as usual! It's Mobb Deep all day," the statement read.
On Friday the group even attended a Knicks game together and released a photo, silencing speculation about a disconnect. Fat Joe is just glad to see the duo as a unified front. "I really don't know none of the details," he said. "If they were to break up, it would be a sad day for hip-hop because we love Mobb Deep as a group, as a fan."

'I'm getting ready as we speak,' she tells MTV News of this year's tournament, tipping off Monday.
By James Montgomery
<P>Last year, based mainly on her attitude, the fact that she plays an AK-47 shaped guitar and the presence of photos like this, Ke$ha was given an 11 seed in MTV's Musical March Madness tournament — and promptly lost by a huge margin to U2 in the opening round. </P><P> </P><P><CENTER></CENTER> </P><P> </P><P>Of course, she's spent the past 12 months fuming over that early exit, and now, she's going to get her shot at redemption. Not only is Ke$ha <i>back</i> in the 2012 MMM tournament — which kicks off Monday — but she's beefed up her rock credentials: working with the likes of Alice Cooper, channeling the "sexiness" of '70s rock on her new album, recording a (genuinely pretty great) cover of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" and spending time snorting Tums with Wayne Coyne. </P><P> </P><P>So, yeah, this year, she's ready to knock off the field of 63 other acts gunning for the MMM trophy — a brimming bracket that includes defending champions Green Day, upstarts Fun. and good pals the Black Keys, to name just a few — and reign supreme. But just in case all that rock-and-roll prep work isn't enough to put her over the top, well, Ke$ha has another secret weapon at the ready: an incredibly toned pelvic floor. </P><P> </P><P>"I'm getting ready as we speak. I'm doing Kegels," she told MTV News, while throwing phantom punches at an unsuspecting cameraman. "Vote for me!" </P><P> </P><P><b>MTV's 2012 Musical March Madness tournament begins Monday, March 12, when we'll unveil the full field of 64 bands that will battle for this year's championship. Winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act made the cut, it will be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM — but get ready, it's gonna be a war.</b> </P><P> </P><P><CENTER></CENTER></p>
