Justin Bieber Accuser Will Submit Baby For DNA Test

Mariah Yeater's lawyer in paternity case says that while lawsuit has been dropped, negotiations for settlement are ongoing.

Justin Bieber reportedly took a DNA test Friday in response to the paternity case brought against him by Mariah Yeater, a 20-year-old California woman alleging the singer fathered her 4-month-old son, and now Yeater's attorney tells TMZ his client will submit her baby for testing.

Late last month, Yeater filed a lawsuit claiming she became pregnant by Bieber during a backstage encounter following his October 25, 2010, concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center. Yeater withdrew her paternity suit a few weeks later and was dropped as a client by her initial legal team in mid-November. She went on to hire new counsel, led by Chicago-based attorney Jeffrey Leving, who told MTV News that while the suit had been dropped, negotiations for a settlement were ongoing.

Bieber's legal team vehemently denies the allegations and has stated from the get-go that it might pursue legal action to protect the pop star from further false claims. "As we've said from the beginning, it's sad that someone would fabricate such a malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claim," Bieber's spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said in a statement. "We'll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin."

What Are Bieber's Legal Options Now That Yeater Has Dropped Her Suit? After reports surfaced that Bieber took a DNA test in New Jersey, TMZ reported Yeater was deliberately avoiding having her child tested because she knew the results would serve as evidence against her, should Bieber's team file suit for defamation or abuse of the legal process. Her lawyer is now dispelling that notion, telling the gossip site that his client "can't wait" to submit her young son for testing.

Leving, however, claimed he has a problem with the DNA test Bieber reportedly submitted because a member of his team was not present when it was administered. The lawyer said he has been in touch with Bieber's legal counsel, headed by Howard Weitzman, and hopes both teams can reach an agreement on DNA-testing protocol.

Bieber has maintained a positive attitude throughout the ordeal. He has not altered the promotional tour for his holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, including a recent performance at the American Music Awards and on the "Today" show, and told MTV News last week at the Pencils of Promise charity event that he's doing "great."

Earlier that day, he spoke of the paternity case briefly with New York's Z100 radio station, saying, "As far as the whole baby situation, it's unfortunate that it had to happen like that. People make false accusations, but things happen in this industry, and you have to keep your head high and be positive."

Ke$ha Is Channeling 'Sexiness' Of '70s Rock For New Album

Glitter-heavy pop star tells MTV News she's going for 'balls-out, irreverent rock and roll.'

Ke$ha's already got the face paint down pat, and, during recent live sets, she's even taken to guzzling blood out of a human heart, so it should come as no surprise that, on her upcoming album, the pop star is taking things back to the most theatrical era of rock: the prop-heavy, arena-spanning heyday of the 1970s.

Ke$h revealed her plans over the weekend in Los Angeles, on the red carpet of KIIS FM's annual Wango Tango concert, where she told MTV News that the follow-up to her breakout Animal album (and, we suppose, Cannibal too) would be heavy on hard riffs and light on pretty much everything else.

"The next album ... I've been working on writing on the road, but as far as a sound, I just know it's gonna be balls-out, irreverent rock and roll," she said. "I've been pretty much in this '70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that's just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f---, so we'll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it."

So, does that mean that fans can expect the likes of Alice Cooper or Peter Frampton to show up on her new album? Perhaps. Because while Ke$ha's new album is still a ways off, she's already begun calling in favors, hoping to line up a killer collabo for the new disc.

"I'm trying, trust me," she laughed. "I really would love to connect with one of my idols, I mean, that's my dream. I'm working on it."

What do you think of Ke$ha going rock for her next album? Tell us in the comments!

Steven Spielberg Talks 'Indy 5' And 'Crystal Skull' Backlash

'I would not make a fifth movie to prove any point,' director says of 'Indiana Jones' series.

Fans of the "Indiana Jones" movies have a complicated relationship with the series as a whole. No one knows this better than Steven Spielberg, the man who had to listen when fans cried out as the latest entry, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," failed to meet expectations.

Now with talk of George Lucas writing a potential fifth film, Spielberg could stand to undo what some fans saw as a bitter farewell to Indiana Jones. When the director spoke with MTV News' Josh Horowitz while promoting "The Adventures of Tintin," he explained that he would have nothing to prove with a new Indy movie.

"I already like the last 'Indy.' I loved 'Crystal Skull,' " Spielberg said. He also expanded on his reported issues with the MacGuffin, or the object in the film that drives the story, in "Crystal Skull." "Yeah, I had a difference of opinion with the MacGuffin, so to speak, which I thought was a little bit out of character with the other MacGuffins in the other three films, but I still loved the experience making it."

The fan reaction to "Crystal Skulls" reminded Spielberg of the similar backlash he faced after the release of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." "We had the same criticism on 'Temple of Doom.' That movie came out and it changed the whole rating system. Jack Valenti and I conspired to create the PG-13 rating system based on the number of complaints about the harshness and the heart coming out of the chest on a PG movie. I went through the same thing," he said.

To Spielberg, the general opinion about the series is split down the middle. "I think audiences think we're two for two. They love Raiders," he said. "They love Last Crusade. They don't love as much Temple of Doom or Crystal Skull." Taking that into consideration, the director still feels no requirement for a fifth film.

"I would not make a fifth movie to prove any point. If we get a good story, I'll make it. If George [Lucas] doesn't think we should make any more, I'll listen to him," Spielberg said.

Check out everything we've got on "The Adventures of Tintin."

Lady Gaga Is 'Fearless' In 'Marry The Night' Video

Born This Way collaborator Fernando Garibay calls the clip a 'thank you' to Gaga's label, Interscope.

Lady Gaga has said the 14-minute "Marry the Night" video is an avant-garde look at her early struggles before hitting it big, and frequent musical collaborator Fernando Garibay told MTV News he remembers seeing a lot of that strife that plays out in the clip.

"She directed the whole video. It was her concept from beginning to end," he said. "It was amazing to see. I was brought in to do the music for the video and additional scoring and such, and so I got to sit and watch the whole process. It's pretty spectacular. It's still breathtaking how much effort and input she has for concepts. ... I might be biased, but it's my favorite video so far. It looks great, and it captures the feeling of the song. It's her story."

So what exactly is that story? The video follows a fictionalized Gaga pursuing her dreams as a ballerina. After she's told to quit, she reinvents herself and becomes a pop sensation. It mirrors her real-life story of being dropped by Island/Def Jam before being signed to Interscope Records, and the rest is history.

"It wasn't easy — that's an understatement," Garibay said of Gaga's early days in the industry. "It wasn't easy for her to get started in the music business, and I was there early on when she was already taking extreme risks. And a lot of the stuff, it's tough to watch, 'cause I've seen that happen, some of those parts. And her honoring and paying homage to Interscope — 'cause it's great, 'cause it's our label and they were always believers in us, particularly her — so it's great to see that. It's like gratitude. It's like a 'thank you.' "

In the lead-up to the video, Garibay said his pop-star pal wasn't in any way scared to put so much of her life out there for public consumption.

"I don't think she's nervous at all," he said. "She's fearless. There's nothing to hide with her. She really put a lot of herself out there this time, but it's something we see all the time. It's nice for the public to see the story and what happened and the true expression of herself in video. It is very autobiographical. She's been wanting to tell the story, so she finally got the opportunity. So it'll be interesting to see what's gonna happen next with her vision."
