You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O's take on Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album.

The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a post Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) and her muckraking journalist compatriot Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig). "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus."

The album will be released on iTunes on December 9 in two versions. Right now, you can download the Karen O song on iTunes when you pre-order the 39-track album. That download purchase will also give you a link to the eight-minute "Dragon Tattoo" trailer, for which Reznor and Ross created a unique score.

But, if you visit the NIN online store, Reznor is offering the soundtrack in a variety of forms, from a free six-track sampler to a deluxe 3,000-piece limited-edition signed $300 package with your choice of MP3 formats; the full album on six pieces of 180 gram vinyl; a deluxe book package with a metal cover; an exclusive custom 8 GB metal razor blade USB drive pendant containing the full album; and a fold-out poster.

The full album score track list is as follows:
» "Immigrant Song" (Led Zeppelin cover) [ft. Karen O]
» "She Reminds Me of You"
» "People Lie All the Time"
» "Pinned and Mounted"
» "Perihelion"
» "What If We Could?"
» "With the Flies"
» "Hidden in Snow"
» "A Thousand Details"
» "One Particular Moment"
» "I Can't Take It Anymore"
» "How Brittle the Bones"
» "Please Take Your Hand Away"
» "Cut Into Pieces"
» "The Splinter"
» "An Itch"
» "Hypomania"
» "Under the Midnight Sun"
» "Aphelion"
» "You're Here"
» "The Same as the Others"
» "A Pause for Reflection"
» "While Waiting"
» "The Seconds Drag"
» "Later Into the Night"
» "Parallel Timeline With Alternate Outcome"
» "Another Way of Caring"
» "A Viable Construct"

Audrina Patridge, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert Share Prom Memories

'Me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m.,' Ke$ha tells MTV News.

It's prom season, and that means high schoolers across this great land will be renting tuxes, buying fancy dresses and negotiating the details of their curfews with parents. So, before you take your pictures and get in your limos, we asked some Hollywood A-listers to recall their fondest prom memories.

"I had a great prom," Ne-Yo told MTV News. "I didn't get to go with who I wanted to go with. I got my second choice, but my second choice turned out to be the one I was supposed to be there with, so it turned out good."

Ke$ha, never one to say no to a party, had the best night of all her friends. "I went to prom with my gay best friend, and let me tell you, I had way more fun than anybody else at a prom with their boyfriends," she recalled. "Everybody else was, like, crying and drama and breaking up, and me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m."

"Hellcats" star Aly Michalka doesn't have a favorite prom memory — because she never went to prom. "I was homeschooled, so I don't even think we had a fake prom," she lamented. "Like, maybe we had a home-school prom and I wasn't invited?"

While everything always seems to be in peril on "The Vampire Diaries," star Nina Dobrev had a less tumultuous night: "Having everyone get together and such a final celebration [is what I remember]."

Romeo went big for his prom. "My senior prom, I remember I pulled up in my red Ferrari. I was feeling like James Bond," he said. "And it was one of the best nights of my life."

"My favorite prom memory was probably going shopping for a dress, and our boyfriends at the time dressed up as 'Dumb & Dumber,' " Audrina Patridge laughed. "And so we were like, 'We can't dress up dorky ... we have to look good.' "

Roots drummer ?uestlove made a big decision on the night of his prom: "June 2, 1989, was my very last haircut; prom haircut, totally butchered my hair. He butchered my hair, and I vowed never again to ever get in a barber chair, so I grew that Afro on my prom night."

Adam Lambert said his prom date was a 10, so he definitely had a fun night. "I had a great prom. I had an awesome time," he said. "I went with one of my best friends in high school. Her name was Lauren, and she was really hot. She wore a really hot red dress, so I felt like I had arm candy."

Usher Collaborator Rico Love Calls Kelly Rowland's 'Motivation' 'Truly Organic'

Lil Wayne 'jumped on it,' Raymond v. Raymond writer tells Mixtape Daily.

Behind the Beats: Rico Love

If more people read the credits behind some of R&B's biggest hits, Rico Love should be a household name. Born Richard Preston Butler Jr., the former Florida A&M University student is now one of the music industry's most-sought-after singer/songwriters.

After writing hits for Usher ("There Goes My Baby"), Beyoncé ("Sweet Dreams") and Diddy-Dirty Money ("Hello Good Morning"), to name a few, one of Rico's biggest hits to date is Kelly Rowland's "Motivation."

"It came about in a truly organic way," Rico told Mixtape Daily of the Jim Jonsin-produced "Motivation." "We had this meeting in New York: myself and Sylvia [Rhone] and Kelly. And they just were saying, 'We need to find that single; we need that big single.' Everybody was asking for an uptempo, actually.

"I flew down to Miami the next day, and that Tuesday, we got back in the studio, and Jim started playing these chords, and then coming up with these little sounds — the signature sounds that Jim comes up with. I just told him to lay it like a skeleton idea, and I jumped in the booth, and I started with the verse, and I kind of sang my way all the way through the record."

Rowland, formerly of Destiny's Child, was in the studio while Rico was laying down the reference track and made her regard for the song known immediately. "Kelly was there and watched the whole process," Rico recalled. "As soon as I finished singing the demo, usually an artist wants to live with it or listen to it for a little while. She just said, 'I want to cut it right now.' So she jumped in the booth, and we cut the record."

"Motivation" became the lead single for Rowland's third album, Here I Am, which was released in April. The song, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, features a verse from Lil Wayne.

"Lil Wayne got out of jail a few days later, and as soon as he got out of jail, [Rowland] went to see him, and he jumped on it," Rico explained. "It was the most organized situation ever. It was nothing contrived about it."

There's been nothing manufactured about Rico's accomplishments either. Starting his musical career as a rapper, he has signed former Roc-a-Fella rapper Young Chris to his Universal/Motown-distributed Division 1 label.

After leaving Florida A&M to pursue music, Rico caught the attention of Usher, and penned songs for the R&B singer, including "Throwback." Other artists soon benefitted from his songwriting, including T.I., Pleasure P and Mario. Rico takes pride in being versatile with his talents, preferring not to make specific songs intended for specific artists only.

"Sometimes, when you keep an artist in mind, you'll limit yourself," Rico explained. "You won't go a place that they probably would go because you're thinking, "Nah, she wouldn't say this," or "He wouldn't do this," or "He wouldn't say this," and "This melody is out of the way for them."

"When I get a chance to just get into the studio and just write music and just produce music and sit at the piano and tell a guy where I want to hear the chords and create the progressions and just freely make music, it's a lot more fun."

Lately, Rico has been back in the studio with Usher. In 2007, he was signed to the singer's former US Records via J Records. But his debut album was never released, and he and Usher went their separate ways.

But as Rico become a songwriting force, the two eventually started working together again. The first song they recorded was the Grammy-winning "There Goes My Baby" from 2010's Raymond v. Raymond. Now, Rico is working on Usher's forthcoming album and embracing the pressure of surpassing its predecessor's platinum sales and critical success.

"I feel like this is what separates the boys from the men," Rico said of working with Usher. "This week, we been creating records together. We had two mics, two headphones set up in the booth, and we just sit there and vibe out.

"These first few days have been amazing. We got four records cut so far that sound super amazing. I'm super excited about it. I'm just anxious for the world to hear it."

'Super 8' And More: 10 Best Film Scores Of 2011

'Hugo' and 'War Horse' also make the list of film music that moved us this year.
By Kara Warner

Continuing with our comprehensive collection of best-of 2011 movie stories, in which we count down our favorite elements of our obsessive movie love (including the top 20 movie trailers and the ), this compilation is focused on yet another crucial element involved in a film's success: the music. A good film score can make or break a scene, move you to or prevent you from shedding tears, make you smile. A great one can do all of the above. Here's a look at our favorite musical masterworks this year.

10. "Rango"
This south-of-the-border-inspired score was a clever and creative companion to Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp's quirky animated western about a domesticated chameleon who dreams of becoming an actor and leading a more adventurous life. Hans Zimmer's spin on spaghetti-western sound with an authentic kick of Mexican folk from Los Lobos made for a perfect musical marriage.

9. "The Muppets"
If there's anything better than seeing the Muppets back on the big screen, it's the concerted effort put into the film's multiple musical layers. ‪For example, you can't talk about composer Christophe Beck's excellent original instrumentals without mentioning "Flight of the Conchords" star-turned-music-supervisor Bret McKenzie's catchy tunes "Life's a Happy Song" or "Man or Muppet." Not to mention the star-studded Green Album that features favorite artists including Weezer, OK Go, the Fray, My Morning Jacket, Amy Lee, Feist, Hayley Williams and Rachael Yamagata belting out updated versions of classic Muppet tunes.

8. "War Horse" and "The Adventures of Tintin"
‪Any year in which John Williams composes a film score is a year in which you'll likely find his work named to the tops of all the best-of lists. And this year Williams is serving up the one-two punch of "War Horse" and "Tintin," both of which feature the Oscar winner's sweeping, stand-out, magical touch. They are paired together on this list because they're both uniquely terrific but it's too hard to rank one above the other.

7. "The Artist"
‪ One of the year's most buzzworthy films, "The Artist" features an appropriately memorable score. Composed by Ludovic Bource, this score is light and happy with a delicate and glamorous finish reminiscent of the film's 1920s setting.

6. "Hugo"
‪It makes perfect sense that Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese would pair up with Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore to score a family-friendly crowd-pleaser. There's a sense of wonder, magic and magnitude in Shore's music that fits perfectly with the film's underlying theme.

5. "Midnight in Paris"
‪Similar to the variety of music featured in "The Muppets," Woody Allen chose to incorporate old-school classics by Cole Porter, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington, along with original instrumental music composed by Stephane Wrembel that further enhanced the film's love letter to nostalgia and self-reflection.

4. "Drive"
‪As much talk as there has been surrounding the story and performances in Nicolas Refn's violent thriller "Drive," the film's score, composed by Cliff Martinez, has been getting just as much attention for its unique and classically cool '80s retro synthesizer sound. Much like how Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' different and daring score for "The Social Network" took the critics by storm, Martinez's work on "Drive" is poised to do the same.

3. "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"
‪Speaking of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, fans can't wait to hear and see what last year's Oscar winners have done with the music for David Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." Although the film doesn't open for a few more weeks, a special sneak peek of the score has appeared online via the company producing it. Unsurprisingly, the music is as chilling, complex and captivating as the film's poster and trailer.

2. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
‪In looking at prolific composer Alexandre Desplat's résumé, it's a wonder the man has any time to sleep with the number of film scores he churns out annually. Not that we'll ever complain, however, because the fruits of his 2011 labor include "The Tree of Life," "Carnage," "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" and our #2 favorite score of the year: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." Desplat's work had our emotions perfectly in tune with what played out on screen: on the edge of our seats, prepped for battle, celebratory and sniffling.

1. "Super 8"
There are several wonderfully epic scores on this list, but the biggest, baddest, bell-iest was Michael Giacchino's brilliant music for "Super 8." It is so many things: sweet, sentimental, wondrous, fascinating ... Plus, in trying to pinpoint that very specific tintinnabular sound that plays throughout the film, we learned about a new instrument: a celesta, which Giacchino told us is kind of a "bell piano."

Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You," featuring Mariah Carey.

Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bublé, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere.

Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic "Little Drummer Boy," which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the Under the Mistletoe cut.

JB then slowed things down with "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track.

"God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks.

In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts.

Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season.

Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!
