Ke$ha knows all about the perks of being a headliner. On her Get $leazy Tour, the singer gets to call all the shots, blast her fans in the face with tons of glitter and handpick which dudes she wants to party and share the stage with.

But it's not all backstage shenanigans and groupie love. When MTV News sat down with the "Blow" singer in New York earlier this week before her gig at Roseland Ballroom, Ke$ha said that amid the nightly onstage parties there have also been some poignant moments on her first headlining outing.

"Best moment? There are so many. Every night's amazing. I have kids outside right now chanting my name and it's awesome," she said of the first leg of the tour. "There was one night a fan came onstage, I invited him onstage, and he had a tattoo of the dollar sign. I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome! Badass. You're part of the cult, man.' "

And then, she said, he began to cry and explained that he was able to come out of the closet to his friends and family thanks to her song "Animal."

"And I'm standing onstage about to sing a song about growing back a pair of testicles ["Grow a Pear"] and I had tears rolling down my face and chills all over my body," she said. "Because that's really the reason I do music, to inspire people to be themselves."

Ke$ha has been a vocal supporter of the "It Gets Better" video project, which aims to help gay, bisexual and transgender youth find hope in the face of teasing and bullying.

The "Get $leazy" juggernaut continues on Saturday night with a show at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

Quick Trip

So … yesterday I hopped a flight from LA to NYC for the weekend to help David’s dad celebrate his birthday this weekend. I couldn’t really blog about it in order to keep the secret so that’s why I didn’t mention it yesterday. But I made it, safe and sound, and the surprise went off [...]

Pet Tags

Man, I'm so irritated.

I just received four pets tags that I ordered for Bev and Mary Margaret (two for Brooklyn and two for LA) and they're all messed up. Not only did they leave off the "Margaret" on Mary Margaret's tags, but the text isn't centered correctly and runs off the right side on all four of them. (The last letter of the address is cut in half.) The tags themselves are also ugly. The edges aren't smoothed out... they look like someone just cut them from a piece of sheet metal and called it a day.

So anyway, I got them this morning on my way to Starbucks (yesterday's mail), so while I was there, I started drafting a strongly-worded letter in my head, like what I was going to say to these people when I sent them back.

And then I saw it.

In tiny print on the bottom of the invoice it said, "Our handicapped employees appreciate your order."

So now I can't send them back. If I did I'd be a total asshole.

I'm just going to order new ones from someplace else. Any recommendations?

'Sherlock Holmes' Villain Praises Nemesis Robert Downey Jr.

'Mad Men' star Jared Harris reveals how he'll live up to Professor Moriarty's rep in 'A Game of Shadows.'
By Josh Wigler

Every coin has two sides, every number an opposite. In the case of Sherlock Holmes, his other half is Professor Moriarty, the shadowy criminal mastermind who serves as the greatest threat to the world's greatest detective — quite a feat, really, considering that the character directly appeared in only two of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories.

Click for exclusive photos from fall's biggest flicks.

But Moriarty is stepping out of the darkness and into the light when "Mad Men" actor Jared Harris fills out his villainous shoes, playing opposite Robert Downey Jr.'s Holmes in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," which arrives in theaters this holiday season. As MTV News' Fall Movie Preview continues, we spoke with Harris about what goes into portraying such an iconic (if often unseen) villain, and all the red herrings and moral ambiguity that come with the package.

MTV: Professor Moriarty is a character with great history in the "Sherlock Holmes" universe and beyond. What kind of research and preparation went into getting into the spirit of the character?

Jared Harris: Well, I tried to hatch some worldwide domination plots. [Laughs] What's interesting is that when he appears in the Sherlock Holmes books, he doesn't appear very much; he's talked about, but you don't see him very often. I thought a little bit about previous incarnations of him. But there were two things that were tricky about this: that convention of who that character was in the Sherlock Holmes stories, this sort of arch nemesis/supervillain. It's been borrowed so often that you can't just go back and do it the way it was, because it seems like a cliché or something. You're only one bad line away from stumbling into cliché in those sorts of things. So we thought about successful villains in other stories and how they operated.

MTV: You've played villains before. How do you make these characters relatable for you? With Moriarty specifically, were you able to dive into him and find a way to like this man?

Harris: You've got to enjoy your work, basically, and you need to have the character enjoy their work as well. I understand what you're saying. You can relate to the character, but it's difficult to always turn around and say you like a character as evil as that. But in my mind, the trick I've played with is, that quality in you and in all of us, when we like or dislike someone, there's a judgment and a moral value involved ... so I removed that from the equation. I don't feel that this guy had any sense of morality. He doesn't see things as right or wrong; he sees things as possible or not possible. From that point of view, the character was liberated and free to do anything.

MTV: Obviously we've already met Moriarty's equal number, Sherlock Holmes, in Guy Ritchie's first film. That version of the character certainly has brains, but he has some brawn to back it up, too. What's your Moriarty like? Is he a similarly multifaceted threat, or is it really his wit that's his sharpest weapon?

Harris: I can't give too much away. It's in keeping with the original version: It's a Guy Ritchie movie, so they haven't suddenly gone back and made a Basil Rathbone "Sherlock Holmes." It's all in keeping with that. But I can't give too much away. Whatever stuff is in the story that they're trying to keep secret until the time comes along, my feeling is it's their secret to blow, and when they feel like blowing it, then I'm free to talk about stuff. That in particular, there are some elements of what you're asking that definitely point to things they've said they'll keep close to their chests until we get closer to [the release date].

MTV: Very interesting! Maybe you can tackle this one a bit more openly — I imagine that most of your screen time is with ...

Harris: Robert, yes. I loved him in the first movie, and I have even more respect for him now. I found him to be very generous and attentive. He wants people around him to do their best work. Sometimes you run into these things where people aren't like that, maybe they're insecure. He's not insecure about talent at all. He wants other people to raise their game. I loved it. I really enjoyed working with him. I can't say enough highly about him. I think he's very special.

MTV: Fans are very eager to see the way you bring Moriarty to the big screen. There have been a lot of eyes on this character, from even before his brief appearance in Ritchie's first "Sherlock" movie. Do you feel any sort of pressure to live up to a certain expectation of this character?

Harris: I certainly didn't ignore that. There are a couple of ways we talked about how you handle that. But he's a very famous character, an infamous character. The man's name is really well known. But it's interesting, because like I said, he only actually appears in two Sherlock Holmes stories. The rest of the time his reputation is done wonders by Sherlock Holmes; he talks him up a great deal. You kind of want to play on that element. It's similar to ... a monster movie; the real thought of the monster movie is you don't reveal the whole shark until the very end of the story. You want to keep people guessing as much as you can, and not show too much, while throwing in a few red herrings and stuff like that. I have no idea, because I haven't seen it, how much it works. [Laughs] But you are very conscious about all that.

At the same time, it's a very different "Sherlock Holmes" film. It isn't a very traditional Sherlock Holmes story at all. It does maintain a truth to the spirit of the times and very much the idea of what we have of Sherlock Holmes and his stories as filtered through this Victorian ideal of how these people behaved and everything, but those were rough, rough, rough times. I wouldn't be surprised that if you went back in a time machine, you'd find that it's actually much closer to what Guy Ritchie is doing than what the Basil Rathbone ones were doing, where everyone's extremely polite with all their clothes pressed and everyone's clean all of the time. I would imagine that! I remember reading at school that Queen Victoria took a bath once every six months and that was considered outrageous, that she was very clean and she was overdoing it.

Justin Bieber's Early Christmas Gift: A Holiday Album

'We are going to try and raise alot of money this year for charity!' teen pop star tweets about next project.
By Terri Schwartz

Beliebers have more to look forward to this holiday season than just chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Justin Bieber announced Thursday (August 25) on Twitter that he'll be releasing his first Christmas album later this year.

"So it's true...been in the studio doing something special for christmas. we are going to try and raise alot of money this year for charity!" the 17-year-old Canadian pop star tweeted.

This will be Bieber's second studio album, since his first release, My World, was technically an EP. Barring the release of Never Say Never -- The Remixes, which featured the new single "Never Say Never," this will be the first new music Bieber has released in more than a year. He didn't share whether he will be collaborating with any other artists on his holiday record or when fans can expect it to hit stores.

Bieber is no stranger to using his musical talents for charitable causes. In 2010, he took part in "We Are the World 25" alongside Miley Cyrus, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. Bieber has supported charities like Give Back Hollywood, Jumpstart and Children's Miracle Network in the past, though he did not specify which charity he would be donating the proceeds of his Christmas album to in his tweet.

The "Baby" crooner isn't the only artist to announce a Christmas album recently. Zooey Deschanel shared the news over Twitter earlier this month that her band She & Him will be releasing their first holiday album -- and third album overall -- later this year. In addition, Bieber's fellow Canadian Michael Bublé has been releasing a series of promos for his holiday album, Christmas, on his official website over the past few weeks.

Which Christmas carol are you hoping Justin covers on his holiday album? Share your suggestions in the comments!

Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz 'Committed' To 'Dream House' Couple

Producer Ehren Kruger talks about the newlyweds' performance in the thriller, in our Fall Movie Preview.
By Josh Horowitz

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz married in a quiet New York ceremony in June, an idyllic union that presents a stark contrast to their onscreen marriage in "Dream House."

A genre mash-up with thriller and horror elements directed by Jim Sheridan, the film begins with a familiar setup: Craig, Weisz and their daughters move to a new home, only to discover their quarters are nothing like what they expected. From there, though, "Dream House" takes a twist, one that makes viewers reconsider everything they've previously seen and which was revealed in a surprisingly spoiler-filled trailer this summer.

Click for photos from fall's biggest flicks!

But as producer Ehren Kruger told MTV News recently, that twist is just one in a flick filled with them. If you think you know everything "Dream House" has in store, he made clear that you're missing all the clues — just as Kruger and the rest of the cast and crew seemingly missed the signs on set that Craig and Weisz's heated on-camera coupling was the beginning of a trip down the aisle.

As part of our Fall Movie Preview, we not only have a chat with Kruger, but the first clip from the film, in which Weisz confesses that she's certain something is wrong with their new home and Craig promises to hire a priest or "feng shui the place." Hit play on the video above and then read on for Kruger's interview.

MTV: You've got some impressive talent in front of and behind the camera. How did all those pieces of the puzzle come together?

Ehren Kruger: It started with the original script by David Loucka, which blended genres in a very interesting way. That caught the eye of Jim Sheridan, and he's not a director who is known for doing straightforward genre pieces. So he responded to some of the deeper character ideas in the script, and once he became interested, we started developing the script with him and very quickly there were actors like Daniel and Rachel and Naomi [Watts] that were interested in being a part of it, because his reputation is so wonderful with performance. You don't always get that in genres that are perceived as just a mystery or just a scary movie or just a thriller, so getting involved in this allowed the actors to bring their A-game and challenge themselves performance-wise.

MTV: As you said, this is not the type of film that Jim Sheridan normally takes on. Why was he the right guy for the job?

Kruger: He's often dealing with families in an emotional crisis. He really responds to that sort of environment, so while this story has a lot of the scary genre trappings and mystery trappings, at its core it's really a family that's in intense crisis.

MTV: In terms of developing the script, what are the influences you drew on?

Kruger: It shares some genre DNA with movies like "The Others" or "The Sixth Sense" or "Rosemary's Baby" and movies that really try to cast a spell in terms of mood. In the world of scary thriller mysteries, there are the vampires and the zombies and the mask killers. They are very upfront with what is scary about them. And then there are the more traditional ghost-story antagonists, where their secrets can play something even more sinister. You don't quite know who is pulling the strings and what to be afraid of. We talked about some of those classic ghost-story influences like "The Haunting" or "The Innocence" or "The Shining," movies where you are dealing with something you initially think you can fight or combat but then aren't sure if you can at all.

MTV: Tell us about what Daniel brought to the table, how he approached the material and how he made the character his own.

Kruger: He's a very intense person, and it comes across in his roles and on the screen. This is a character who, on the outside, seems like an everyman, a family man, but you come to find out he has a number of demons of his own. Daniel was really able to dig into those and pull off a very intense portrayal of a man trying to protect his family in nearly an impossible situation. It's a very valiant performance from him. And the chemistry between him and Rachel, which is kind of the core of the film, is really great.

MTV: Was their relationship off camera apparent to you on the set?

Kruger: They are both very focused actors, so you just figured they were really committed to their performance of this married couple. There is method acting and I guess there is matrimonial method acting. But I wouldn't say it was apparent during shooting. They were playing the roles as professional, and it went from there.

MTV: You show a big twist in the trailer about the murders that took place in the house. How do you make the decision of how much to reveal and how early?

Kruger: It's always a trick with movies that start off seeming like one thing and then turn into something else. In the case of this movie, it turns into something else again. You just have to make the decision of what is the best way to tell the audience that they are going to be getting more than what they think they are getting. You could have a trailer that doesn't reveal any of the revelations that they will come to find out about — the house where he lives and the family — and then there's just not quite enough juicy material to sell the movie. You have to provide a little and assure the audience there's going to be more revelations.

MTV: When do you find out who the murderer is in the movie?

Kruger: It will be in the first half of the movie that you are getting the revelations that are in the trailer, so there is still half of the movie of mystery to tell.
