NEW YORK — In the midst of a mass of screaming fans, many of whom had camped out overnight, the beloved cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" walked a lengthy red carpet at their final film's premiere on a rather hot and steamy night in New York City.

MTV News was right in the middle of the action, catching up with the billion-dollar franchise's brightest stars. Aside from commentary about the heat and humidity on the star-studded red carpet, a lot of chatter centered on the bittersweet end of the "Potter" road — and, more importantly, what each castmember might be up to next.

During our live-stream coverage, when we chatted with Emma Watson — who we most recently caught up with in the middle of filming an epic dance-party scene on the set of her next film, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" — we asked the lovely lady if dancing might again be on her mind later in the evening.

"Yes!" she exclaimed. "I'm like, 'Get me to that dance floor,' that is exactly what I need right now," she said, hinting that she'll be getting down at the afterparty.

And what will she be up to tomorrow? How will she relax and wind down now that everything "Potter" is complete?

"I'm usually working and going on to the next thing, but it really is over now, so I don't know," she admitted. "I think I'll go and have a really big brunch. A really big brunch, and sleep and reflect on the whole thing."

Severus Snape Wins 'Harry Potter' World Cup!

Complicated professor takes down Harry's best friend Ron Weasley for the title of greatest 'Potter' character ever.

Sixty-four contestants. Four weeks. More than 7 million votes. And now just one wizard is left standing: Potions master Severus Snape has won MTV News' "Harry Potter" World Cup!

As announced during our live stream of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" red-carpet premiere in New York City, Snape bested Ron Weasley to earn the fan-voted title of the greatest character ever in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series.

And it wasn't even close. Coming off an extraordinary two-match run, in which he smacked down Harry Potter himself and then stormed past Hermione Granger, Snape shot out to an early lead over Weasley and never looked back. Poor Ron — who eked out a hard-fought victory in round three over his brother Fred and barely squeaked past wizard Sirius Black — never really had a chance. He may have been the last of the Big Three to stay alive in the Cup, an impressive achievement in its own right, but there was nothing he could do when facing, in Snape, a character on a sizzling winning streak and possessing perhaps the franchise's most complex, satisfying arc.

Snape began the tournament as a dangerous #2 seed in the Privet Drive bracket. He wasted no time absolutely embarrassing Death Eater spawn Vincent Crabbe, walking away with nearly 98 percent of the vote. From there, he wiped the floor with Professor Flitwick and ran over fan favorite Dobby the House Elf. Even Harry Potter himself presented little challenge for Snape, who seemingly could have sleepwalked through his face-off with the boy wizard and still come out on top. That was some seriously impressive stuff. But he didn't stop there, going on to best Hermione in the Final Four with almost 63 percent of the vote.

So let us all applaud Severus Snape for his epic run and staggering victory in the one-and-only "Harry Potter" World Cup. But while we're at it, we must applaud everyone who voted (and voted and voted and voted) in the tournament. The fan response to the event was far greater than we could have ever hoped. You guys took on the challenge with gusto and dedication — voting and commenting, tweeting and Facebook updating, campaigning and protesting and celebrating. In the end, your favorite character might not have won, but no one can dispute the singular, staggering popularity of "Harry Potter."

Tom Felton Predicts Snape Will Win 'Harry Potter' World Cup

'Everyone loves Snape. He has the greatest story of the lot,' actor tells MTV News.

No matter how you feel about the mean-spirited Draco Malfoy, actor Tom Felton is well aware that the character he's played for 10 years garners mixed reactions from die-hard "Harry Potter" fans. "Either people loved him or loved to hate him," Felton told MTV News during a sit-down chat in preparation for the release of the wildly anticipated "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Even Felton himself has conflicting feelings about how people react to Malfoy. "It's weird — I never quite know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that Draco is generally ... a pleasantly accepted character," the star said, adding, "I always find it weird when 6-year-olds' parents say, 'You're his favorite character!' I'm always like, 'I'm not sure if I should be. I'm not sure that reflects your great parenting skills!"

But that doesn't mean the MTV Movie Awards winner didn't want his character to win the ongoing "Harry Potter" World Cup. For weeks, "Harry Potter" fans have participated in the bracket game, which will declare the best character in the saga. While Felton's Draco did make it very far in the tournament before being bested by Final Four competitor Sirius Black ("That's a little unfair, I think — don't you?" the 23-year-old pondered to MTV's Josh Horowitz), it wasn't quite far enough to take the whole thing. "I'm bitter about not making it to the final post, but at the same time, I'm very grateful. It's awesome," the actor said.

See the full bracket and vote!

Still, Felton, despite being voted out, was more than willing to play along in the World Cup. When asked whom he thinks should advance past the Final Four (Hermione Granger vs. Severus Snape, Sirius Black vs. Ron Weasley) and win the whole thing, the actor said, with no hesitation, "Snape." He continued, "Everyone loves Snape. He has the greatest story of the lot, I think, where you don't know which he's going to be the whole way."

While the "Harry Potter" World Cup picks the best character in the series, not just the final film, Felton still thinks Snape takes the cake. "He has a beautiful ending, doesn't he?," Felton asked, adding, "I didn't expect that at all. It's so nice to see this hard character Snape turn into this soft shell of a man."

In short, by Felton's prediction, Severus Snape is "gonna take the crown, man."

Whether you agree or disagree with Felton's pick, you can still vote throughout the day on Monday, July 11. Then, the winner of the "Harry Potter" World Cup will be announced later that evening during MTV's live stream of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" red-carpet premiere in New York.

We're streaming live from the red carpet at the New York premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" on Monday, July 11, at 4:30 p.m. ET. Justin Bieber Won't 'Limit' Himself On Next Album

'I just want to make music,' he tells MTV News.

It's been a minute since Justin Bieber released new music, and it sounds like the waiting game continues for Beliebers. The singer is currently in the planning and recording stages for his next record and has not set any deadlines for himself. At the moment, Bieber said, he's still creating.

"I want to work a lot with myself," he told MTV News about any plans to expand his collaboration résumé, after working with artists like Chris Brown, Kanye West, Ludacris and Rascal Flatts. "And [I want to] write a lot myself. I will be working with a lot of other producers and stuff like that, but I'm just writing a lot, writing on tour."

So what is Bieber focusing on in this new batch of songs? "[I'm] writing about how I feel and producing. I've been producing on my laptop and on my computer," he said. "I've been really into it and, hopefully, this next album will be huge."

It may be a while until new stuff comes out, but it's not like fans don't already have plenty of Bieber music to listen to in the meantime. Only a couple of years into his career, Bieber has already managed to release the chart-topping albums My World, My World 2.0, Never Say Never — The Remixes and My Worlds Acoustic. He's also dabbled in a number of genres, like pop, hip-hop, R&B and, yes, even country. With so many interests in so many different sounds and so much to draw from, Bieber said he's not boxing himself in on his next release.

"I've done a lot on my acoustic guitar, so it's gonna have that vibe," he explained. "I'm not gonna really limit myself. I think music is music, and genre — I mean, I know there's country music, there's rock music, but my music is different. My voice is not meant for any style. I just want to make music."

Britney Spears' 'Till The World Ends' Gets R. Kelly Treatment

Following all-girl remix featuring Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, R&B singer proffers his own mix of the song.

Did R. Kelly place his vote for his pick for Song of the Summer by jumping on a new remix of Britney Spears' monster smash "Till the World Ends"? Following the all-girl remix featuring Nicki Minaj and the song's writer, Ke$ha, this new version of the Femme Fatale single gets some love in the club from Kells.

On the new mix, after Brit sings the first verse and the chorus, Kelly comes in singing, "Slide up in this club/ This beat's got me in love/ Till I just don't care/ It's like I'm walking on air/ It's a party right here." He then goes on about partying till the world ends, his Auto-Tuned vocals dancing over the track until the song's breakdown, where he mixes his vocals with Spears'.

Toward the song's end, Kelly does some vocal runs over the song's chorus as it plays out, keeping with the integrity of the Dr. Luke-produced track.

Remixes certainly aren't new for Kels, who's reworked several of his own tracks, including "Ignition" and "Bump N' Grind," spinning new life into the songs that had already become fan favorites. He's also remixed tracks for an eclectic galaxy of stars like Whitney Houston, Usher and soul legends the Isley Brothers, to name a few.

As for Spears, several of her Femme Fatale songs have been remixed in various ways including the Bollywood "Till the World Ends and the house version of "Hold It Against Me." A Neptunes remix of "Boys" dubbed the "The Co-Ed Remix" climbed to the top of "TRL" back in 2002, and she released a remix album in 2005 called B In The Mix: The Remixes, with club-ready up versions of "Me Against the Music," "Everytime," "Toxic" and more.

"Till the World Ends" isn't the only Song of the Summer contender that's getting reworked by a male pop star. Over the weekend, much to the delight of Mother Monster herself, Nick Jonas put his own signature acoustic singer/songwriter stamp on her summer contender "The Edge of Glory."

Lady Gaga tweeted, "Swoon! Nick Jonas singing 'The Edge of Glory.' On my way to press conference in Taichung, listening to it. So dreamy! X."

Using only his acoustic guitar, Jonas played his version of the triumphant pop track to a audience of fans who seemed charmed by his rendition of the Born This Way single. "@ladygaga the pleasure is all mine," he later tweeted. "That is a beautiful song. Keep inspiring the world."

Which reworked track do you like better? Tell us in the comments!
