Justin Bieber tied with Eminem as the top winner at Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards with six trophies. But it was his embrace of reported sweetie Selena Gomez that set the Internet on fire after a night that saw splashy performances from Rihanna, an upside-down Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Mary J. Blige with Lil Wayne, Taio Cruz, the Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull.

Bieber's awards included trophies for Top New Artist, Top Social Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Top Digital Media Artist, Top Pop Album and Top Streaming Song at his first-ever trip to the show. Meanwhile, veteran Eminem (who was not in Las Vegas for the show) nabbed Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Song and Top Rap Album for his smash comeback, Recovery.

Six artists were just behind with three wins each, including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Usher, Mumford & Sons and Cruz. Though Bieber and Gomez have kept their relationship under wraps for months, the "Baby" singer kissed and hugged Gomez before taking the stage to accept an award.

The show featured a number of performances, two of which included surprise appearances from a lip-synching Britney Spears. The pop diva literally popped up out of the floor to join Rihanna for "S&M," writhing on a stripper pole while brandishing a pair of diamond handcuffs. The two finished things off with a pillow fight and a kiss. She also topped off a performance of Minaj's "Super Bass" with a bit of her own "Till the World Ends."

Weezy teamed up with Blige for the remix of "Someone to Love Me (Naked)." Green wore a sparkly outer-space outfit while playing piano and singing a medley of his hits ("Crazy," "Bright Lights Bigger City" and "Forget You"); he levitated over the stage and pounded the keys of his silver piano while hanging upside down at one point.

But perhaps the biggest moment of the night was when Beyoncé was presented with the prestigious Billboard Millennium Award, which was preceded by a video honoring her with testimonials from First Lady Michelle Obama, Bono, Lady Gaga, Bey's parents and sister Solange, Stevie Wonder, The-Dream and Barbra Streisand.

She accepted the award after an eye-popping performance of her new single, "Run the World (Girls)," which was highlighted by a breathtaking digital background featuring a shifting array of effects that produced a legion of virtual backup dancers and CGI-like movie effects.

Out of breath from her performance, Beyoncé thanked her mother and father for teaching her about hard work, as well as former Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, past DC members and, in a break with their usual low-key nature, husband Jay-Z.

"I'd also like to thank my best friend, and I don't want to put you on the spot because I know they're probably putting a camera in your face right now, but I love me some Jay-Z," she said with a smile.

A number of artists also took home two awards apiece, including Katy Perry, Shakira and Train.

Steve-O Says He Should Top Justin Bieber For MTV Movie Award

'Jackass' star also competing with Natalie Portman, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page, and James Franco for Best Jaw Dropping Moment.

One of the many ways the MTV Movie Awards distinguishes itself from all the other awards shows out there is the unique categories for which performances by actors, actresses and assorted moments in film are nominated and awarded.

The Best Jaw Dropping Moment is a perfect example. This year's nominees run the gamut from cringe-worthy and painful moments to larger-than-life concert experiences, amazing special effects and being covered in poo.

The nominees are: Natalie Portman for her hangnail moment in "Black Swan," Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page for the dream-within-a-dream "café scene" in "Inception," James Franco between a rock and a hard place in "127 Hours," Justin Bieber performing in his 3-D concert doc "Never Say Never," and the mighty Steve-O for his Porta-Potty moment in "Jackass 3D."

When MTV News caught up with poo and Porta-Potty expert Steve-O recently, we asked him how he feels about going up against fan favorite Justin Bieber.

"I'm not sure exactly what Justin Bieber's jaw-dropping moment is. From what I gather, it's not actually that spectacular," Steve-O said, pointing to the fact that Bieber's concert performance isn't quite as intense as Portman's or Franco's painful scenes. "But with his following, I'm pretty much showing up at this Movie Awards feeling like I'm a spectator and I'm going to watch him win," he continued. "I'm fine with that."

The "Jackass" star went on to say that the big reason he is a fan of the Biebs is not for his singing career, but his skateboarding skills. "Justin, I'm glad you know how to ride a skateboard and you have passion for the sport," he said to Bieber. "I consider skateboarding a sport, and I like Justin Bieber because he rides," he revealed.

In thinking a bit more about how Bieber's nominated moment stands out from his fellow "jaw-dropping moment" nominees, Steve-O suggested that we think about re-naming Bieber's big scene. "It should be called a 'panty-dropping moment,' " he said with a laugh. "The jailbait panty-dropping moment of all time, [by] Justin Bieber."

And although Steve-O doesn't expect to win, he did give himself a little plug, since in his infamous Porta-Potty bungee scene, his jaw did drop. "I should win, because my jaw was completely dropped the whole time," he said. "I had my mouth wide open and poo flying in there, and if I didn't drop my jaw, then that wouldn't have happened, so I should win."

Beyonce Premieres 'Best Thing I Never Had'

Breakup tune, penned by B and Babyface, serves as second single off singer's new album, 4.

With "Me, Myself and I," "Irreplaceable" and even "If I Were a Boy," Beyoncé has proven that she excels at delivering top-notch pop&B, need-you-no-more-type jams. Her new single, "Best Thing I Never Had," which she co-wrote with Babyface and released on Wednesday morning (June 1), is just the latest entry in that category.

Following the eccentric dance sounds of her lead single "Run the World (Girls)," Bey takes things down a notch on this midtempo cut off her new album, 4. Reminiscent of her 2006 hit "Irreplaceable," the song has the pop star taking aim at a former lover, admitting that she no longer desires him after discovering his deceitful ways.

"I wanted you bad/ I'm so through with it/ Cuz honestly you turned out to be the best thing I never had/ You turned out to be the best thing I never had/ And I'm gon' always be the best thing you never had/ I bet it sucks to be you right now," she confidently sings on the chorus.

With its radio-friendly appeal and catchy chorus, "Best Thing I Never Had" sounds not unlike a song you'd hear during a Broadway musical. That may be because, as Beyoncé has revealed, she collaborated with the band from "Fela!" for "a couple of days" to gain inspiration from the play's subject, Nigerian musician Fela Kuti.

On the single artwork for "Best Thing I Never Had," a platinum-blond Beyoncé strikes a pose in a small bathroom. Sporting a tight-fitting dress, the pop star holds red lipstick up to a mirror after writing "King B" on it.

In addition to Babyface, it seems that the pop superstar has also collaborated recently with OneRepublic. "Just finished mix on Beyoncé song — last one to make her album, once again she blew me away vocally, this is sumthin different — hope ya like!" the band tweeted on Tuesday.

Lady Gaga Crashes Billboard With 1.1 Million

Born This Way is the first record since 2005 to sell more than 1.1 million in a week.
By Gil Kaufman

We knew Lady Gaga's Born This Way was going to crush it on the Billboard 200 charts, the only question was how hard. The answer, it turns out, is very.

Gaga's relentlessly hyped second full-length studio album easily takes the pole position on next week's chart with sales of more than 1.1 million in its first week, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, marking the first album since 50 Cent's 2005 effort, The Massacre, to cross the 1.1 million plateau in a week. Along the way, Born This Way became only the 17th album in the SoundScan era (which began in 1991) to sell 1 million copies in its first week. And though she's sold more than 15 million albums across the globe to date, BTW marks the first #1 debut for the international pop diva. People weren't just looking for Gaga's new one, either. Sales of her debut, The Fame, are up more than 50 percent to 19,000, sending the disc up 20 spots on the chart.

Coming in way back at #2 is the chart debut of Brad Paisley's This Is Country Music (153,000), followed by the year-to-date chart queen, Adele, whose 21 drops to #3 (only the second time it's fallen this low in its nearly three and a half months of release), while moving another 126,000 copies to edge toward the 2 million mark.

The fourth spot is the debut of the latest "Glee" soundtrack, Glee: The Music, Vol. 6 (80,000), followed by the Maybach Music compilation, MMG Presents: Self Made, Volume 1 (59,000). The joint boy band album NKOTBSB shows up at #7 (40,000) and the debut from Foster the People, Torches, hits #8 (33,000) thanks, no doubt, to the hit "Pumped Up Kicks."

The rest of the top 10 includes NOW 38 (#6, 45,000), Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (#9, 33,000) and Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More (#10, 25,000).

"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery had a promising week, as the digital compilation of his performances, American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery, debuts at #12 on sales of 23,000, while runner-up Lauren Alaina's comp has to settle for a #42 landing (11,000).

Gaga knocked Adele down a notch on the iTunes album charts, taking the lead position and pushing the British soul singer to #2, just ahead of Paisley, McCreery, Foster the People, "Glee," the MMG Presents compilation, Alaina, Mumford and Blacklight by Christian hip-hopper Tedashii. Adele could not be shaken, however, on the iTunes singles tally, where her smash single, "Rolling in the Deep," keeps the top position, followed by Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," McCreery's "I Love You This Big," Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," DJ Khaled's "I'm the One," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song," Alaina's "Like My Mother Does," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor."

Gaga seems pretty safe for another round, as the week's new faces include Death Cab for Cutie's Codes and Keys, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder's solo effort, Ukulele Songs, and My Morning Jacket's Circuital.

Jon Hamm Talks ?Mad Men? Future

With the hiatus in production of ?Mad Men,? star Jon Hamm has shared his two cents as to how the program should progress.

During a recent interview, the Don Draper actor suggested that ?Men? should wrap things up after the seventh season (season five will begin shooting ?in late July or August?).

"I think it should end after the seventh season. Everything should end. I was a big fan of 'The Office' over here because it ended."

Hamm also noted that he still hasn?t seen anything in the way of a script for the new season. "I don't think the scripts exist. The way Matthew Weiner writes the show is very organically. He starts when he starts and eventually there are scripts but I certainly haven't seen them."

Oxygen's Glee Project What Did You Think

Oxygen's Glee Project What Did You Think

For months we've been hearing about Oxygen's The Glee Project -- a reality show orchestrated by Glee creator Ryan Murphy. The premise: forty-thousand people auditioned for 12 spots on a televised talent competition. If they made it, they'd get to participate in various challenges to win a seven-episode, guest-starring role on Glee.

On Sunday night's premiere episode, we got to meet the 12 wide-eyed eager beavers who got that chance. All great singers, the contestants appeared to have been hand picked to fit some sort of high school social category. There was an overweight girl, a very short guy with braces, a flirty Latina, a dreadlocked hippie type, an 18-year-old girl who looked 10, a gay-seeming guy, etc. They had one thing in common, though: They were bursting with jaw-dropping enthusiasm -- and soaring emotions.

They covered their mouths in shock when told that each week, a different Glee cast member would be dropping by to help out. (Darren Criss appeared in the premiere.) They cheered and leapt in the air when they heard what famous artists their video director had worked with prior to them. They bubbled over with predictions about what characters they'd play on Glee.

In other words, the overall vibe of the proceedings was very Glee-like. In many ways, the heart of Glee is arguably Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), a central character who wears her naïve exuberance on her sleeve. And when things don't go her way, she's excessively, whole-heartedly crushed. That's also what happens here.

As soon as the going gets tough, the show's emotional pendulum swings the other way. As people make mistakes, the tension rises exponentially. At one point, Glee's choreographer, Zach Woodlee, tells them he doesn't have time to treat them like 3-year-olds. The young-looking girl is chided for acting too young. The skinny, hipster kid is criticized for fading into the background. The hunky pretty boy annoys everyone by pushing his own opinions on the video director.

If you tend to be carried away by the high-stakes drama of TV competitions, get excited: this show will surely take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

Didn't catch the episode last night? Be sure to watch it now!

Britney Spears Appears On Harper's Bazaar Cover

'I'm like everybody else,' singer says in the magazine.
By Jocelyn Vena

She appeared pregnant and nude on the cover back in 2006, but now Britney Spears just looks happy and healthy in a low-cut white dress on the cover of Harper's Bazaar. In the latest issue of the magazine, now being previewed online, the singer opens up about her life.

"I'm pretty normal, you know? Like I said, the type of day I love is just like everybody else's. I'm like everybody else," she says in the issue. When asked about her music videos, she recalls fondness for a clip from 2001. " 'Overprotected.' I just think it says a lot. It was directed so well, it was really colorful and the dancing was amazing," she says of the splashy clip.

Spears seems content with the way fans have been reacting to her Femme Fatale album, which dropped in March. "I've worked so hard on this album, so it's really refreshing," she said. "I feel like I'm drinking a tall glass of homemade sweet tea on a really hot, beautiful day."

Spears also talked about getting in shape for her highly anticipated summer tour. "I love to dance, so it's very exciting," she said. "The tour rehearsals have been going really well. I think it will be my best show yet."

In addition to the cover shot, another image from the magazine has hit the Web. It features Spears smiling in front of a wall painted with graffiti wearing a flowing, black star-print dress.

Not only has Spears been readying her summer tour, she has also been preparing to shoot her next music video, for the song "I Wanna Go." Spears will be working with Chris Marrs Piliero (Ke$ha, the Black Eyed Peas) on the clip, which is filming later this month in Los Angeles. The track is the third single off her album, following "Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends."

While she's always moving forward to the next project, Spears did take the time to reflect on one very important onstage kiss with Madonna at the VMAs nearly eight years ago. "I actually saw her a couple of weeks ago at a party," Britney recalled. "I guess she's really taught me to stay true to myself. That seems like a simple thing to say, but she taught me through action, not just by saying it. There are so many people around you that have opinions, but you just have to listen to your instincts."
