What do Britney Spears and Usher have in common? Well, they are both global superstars with a back catalogue of tunes that have kept fans dancing for a really long time and they both recently hooked up with will.i.am for tracks on their latest releases (the Black Eyed Peas mastermind worked on the pop vixen's Femme Fatale tune "Big Fat Bass"). And, if Spears has her way, she and the "OMG" singer could be hitting the road together.

When Spears sat down to talk with Sway Calloway for her "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special — airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV — the singer revealed that Usher is first on her list of artists she'd like to join her on tour.

"Oh, I'm so excited. I'm really excited about going on tour, very," she explained about her forthcoming summer trek, which happens to have a spot open on the bill now that Enrique Iglesias has pulled out of the gig. "I think Usher's really great right now. I think he's really hot right now. That would be cool [to tour with him]."

The North American road trip is expected to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California, and will run for 26 dates, winding up on August 13 in Toronto. More details will be announced soon.

The "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale" special is a mixture of behind-the-scenes footage of the singer as she wraps up production on her album, which dropped this week, as well as an inside look at her life and fans. In addition, those who couldn't make Spears' recent nightclub show in Las Vegas will get to see her as she takes the stage in her latest pop incarnation.

Don't miss "Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale," airing Sunday (April 3) at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.

Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.
By James Montgomery

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.

To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.

According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.

Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).

The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.

It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.

Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.

Inside 'American Idol' Finale, Fans Pray For Lauren Alaina Victory

But Scotty McCreery supporters are the most vocal (and have the most posters) in L.A.'s Nokia Theater.
By Kelley L. Carter

LOS ANGELES — More than an hour before the live telecast of Tuesday night's (May 24) "American Idol" performance finale, nearly every seat in the house was filled. Clearly, no "Idol" fan lucky enough to snag a ticket wanted to miss a beat of this year's Southern-fried showdown.

"What'd you say? You love her? She's your Southern Belle? Security! Keep an eye on this guy," the warm-up comic joked, while having a back-and-forth conversation with a Lauren Alaina fan during one of the show's breaks.

Judging by the signage inside the Nokia Theater in downtown L.A., where the showdown was taking place, many of the people hooting and hollering were voting for Scotty McCreery. Judging by the loudest screams, however, many of the people inside of the concert hall were rooting for judge Steve Tyler.

Audience members carried colorful posters that proclaimed Scotty a superstar, with some young girls asking him to be their prom date. A small group of Alaina fans huddled together in the theater, bowed their heads and prayed for who they hoped would win the competition.

During the breaks, the night's MC passed out Scotty McCreery T-shirts and Lauren Alaina poster boards to eager fans. One small group of fans brought with them a vintage Aerosmith album and came armed with bright yellow posters asking Tyler to sign it for them.

There was signage all around the theater warning people not to bring in cell phones, as they might be distracting, but there was nothing preventing them from bringing in a shrill whistle. A group near the mezzanine blew their whistles in unison at the end of every round, harmonizing with the ear-piercing screams of fans shouting the name of their favorite finalist.

In the end, the judges called it for Alaina, but the Nokia crowd was a Scotty-leaning bunch.

Who do you think won the night? Let us know in the comments!

Tom Felton Feels 'No Competition' With Dan Radcliffe For 2012 Ghost Movies

'I'm really excited for them both,' Felton says of his 'Apparition' and 'Harry Potter' co-star's 'Woman in Black.'
By Eric Ditzian

Tom Felton's "Apparition" was originally slated for a fall 2011 release, but Warner Bros. shifted the debut back to 2012, lining up a bit of a box-office face-off between Felton and his "Harry Potter" pal Daniel Radcliffe.

That's because both actors will have ghost-centric supernatural tales coming out next year. "The Apparition," co-starring Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan, focuses on a haunting presence conjured up during a college parapsychology experiment. Radcliffe's "Woman in Black," meanwhile, is a dark period piece in which a scorned woman's ghost begins to haunt a small town.

But just because the two friends will have competing supernatural projects opening at the box office in 2012 doesn't mean they'll be competing with each other.

"No competition!" Felton laughed in an MTV News interview. "That's true, they're coming out next year. That could be interesting to see how that turns out. But I'm really excited for them both."

So too, it seems, is Radcliffe, who has already shared footage with Felton. "He actually showed me a trailer on his computer a while ago," Felton said. "It looks awesome. There's lots to look forward to. He's very excited."

Of "Apparition," which Felton previously told us was nothing short of a "dream role," the 23-year-old said, "It was so great for that film to be one of my first outside Hogwarts. Ashley and Sebastian are so talented. I learned so much from them, even though I was shooting for only six weeks. I'm very excited for that."

Check out everything we've got on "The Apparition" and "The Woman in Black."

'Dark Knight Rises' Production Kicks Off With First Official Photo

Photo released by Warner Bros. features heavily muscled villain Bane, played by 'Inception' vet Tom Hardy.

Better late than never, right? We had hoped and assumed Christopher Nolan's third "Batman" flick was going to kick off production not too long after "The Dark Knight" wrapped up its record-breaking run in 2008. Instead, the filmmaker pushed forward with "Inception," and as even the most diehard Bat-fan must surely admit, Nolan's twisty dream-world thriller was quite a fine cinematic diversion.

Now though, principal photography on Nolan's third and reportedly final Caped Crusader flick — "The Dark Knight Rises" — has officially begun, with the production expected to span three continents, from India, Scotland and England to Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles. And to celebrate this highly anticipated beginning, Warner Bros. has released the film's first official photo and fired up a viral marketing campaign.

The photo features Bane, the heavily muscled villain played by "Inception" vet Tom Hardy. With Bane bathed in shadows, his back to the camera and a freaky mask on his head, the pic offers an excellent introduction to a character not very well known to the masses but one who is cherished by comic-book fans.

The Bane photo was the payoff of a brand-new viral effort that began with a muffled audio file on the film's official website. Savvy technophiles were able to analyze the audio and discover a Twitter hashtag (#thefirerises) and account, which in turn led to the discovery of a hidden image at Thedarkknightrises.com. Expect the marketing campaign to continue for quite a while — the film doesn't hit theaters until July 20, 2012. "We're very much excited about really finishing a trilogy and giving a conclusion to our story," Nolan told us in February. "And that's what we're doing."

The ?Like I Love You? singer and the ?Forgetting Sarah Marshall? babe are picture perfect in the flirty and suggestive pose.
