Which movies are fun for the whole family and which ones are treats just for you? Find out!

In theaters now...

Bridesmaids
Short Story:
From the producer of The 40-year-old Virgin and Knocked Up comes a hilarious new comedy that's already been dubbed a female version of The Hangover. Kristin Wiig stars as the down-on-her-luck Annie, whose stint as maid of honor for her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) leads her to befriend a pack of eccentric bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) and fake her way through every crazy maid-of-honor duty on the road to the wedding day.

What They're Saying:
"Kristen Wiig becomes a movie star and takes back the term 'chick flick.' Bridesmaids has a big heart and a grown-up mouth." -- RedEye

"This might be a turning point in feminism and comedy, provided that both sexes can embrace it." -- TIME magazine

Good for the Kids?
This one is not for the kids, but you should probably splurge on a babysitter. This comedy is filled with an all-star cast, is getting glowing review, and is entertaining for both women and men!

Priest
Short Story:
In a post-apocalyptic world where vampires and humans are waging a bloody war, the succinctly named Priest (Paul Bettany) takes refuge in one of the Church's walled-in cities. But when bloodsuckers capture his niece (Lily Collins), the Priest leaves his safe haven and, accompanied by the Priestess (Maggie Q) and his niece's boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), embark on a dangerous quest to save her.

What They're Saying:
"Not exactly an unholy mess, but still a rather too pious retread of classic sci-fi/action/horror riffs that lacks originality or pizzazz." --Variety

"In an era where monster mythology has become raw material for all sorts of mediocrity, Priest is one of the best examples of a broad-scale vampire blockbuster." -- Boxoffice magazine

Good for the Kids?
With intense action sequences, sadly this is another film that is not good for the young ones. Rated PG-13, it may be entertaining for the teenage set looking for a good action movie.

In case you missed:

Something Borrowed
Short Story:
On her 30th birthday, successful yet hopelessly single attorney Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) finally beds her longtime crush Dex (Colin Egglesfield). The only problem? He's engaged to Rachel's best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson). As the wedding quickly approaches, Rachel must balance her maid-of-honor duties while hiding her affair with Dex. Meanwhile, her confidante Ethan (John Krasinski) has a secret crush of his own that could turn this love triangle into a quadrangle.

What They’re Saying:
"Romantic comedy has taken a shellacking lately in a series of stupefying flops, but they didn't have Ginnifer Goodwin." -- New York Observer

"It made me like it against my will and despite my biases, and it made me like that I liked it. I enjoyed its walk of shame." -- OK! magazine

Good for the Kids:
Leave the kiddies at home for this rom-com romp -- the sex scenes and affairs might be a bit over their wee heads. But with an all-star cast -- including easy-on-the-eyes male leads Krasinski and Egglesfield -- and constant sexual tension, Something Borrowed is perfect for a girls' night out.

Watch the Preview!

Thor
Short Story:
Get ready for another superhero flick! From the pages of a Marvel comic book to the silver screen, this movie begins with the mighty, hammer-wielding Thor (Chris Hemsworth) preparing to take over the throne of the celestial realm of Asgard. His irresponsible actions, however, lead his father (Anthony Hopkins) to banish him to Earth to learn some humility. Once in New Mexico (Natalie Portman) and must discover what it takes to be a hero when his ancient enemies invade Earth.

What They’re Saying:
"All in all, it's a good official start to the summer season -- and for a movie superhero counting down the days until he joins the all-star The Avengers." -- Newark Star-Ledger

"At its best moments, Thor weaves a spot of magic from the complex science of $150-million fantasy-film technology" --TIME magazine

Good For the Kids:
It's great for teens, not so good for the younger ones -- thanks to its plentiful action. With mostly rave reviews, this is a definite winner for any popcorn-movie fan.

Lady Gaga Talks About Fashion Obsession In V Magazine

After sharing stories about her early career, Gaga writes her first column for the mag.

Lady Gaga pays homage to Japan for V magazine's Asian issue, where Gaga is featured on the cover. Gaga poses on the cover in a Mugler lingerie bodysuit with three heads, two of which feature her wearing makeup made of metal and sequins.

In the interview, Elton John talks to the star about her career and Japan. "I have such beautiful memories of Japan and its people," she says in the issue (10 percent of profits from which will be donated to the country). "And when the earthquake happened, I knew saying something just wasn't enough. The little monsters have raised over $2 million purchasing these prayers bracelets I made myself. Let's connect cultures from around the world and rebuild this beautiful country."

Not only does the issue feature an interview and photo spread with Gaga, it also features her first-ever column for the fashion magazine. Writing in business-memo form, Gaga opens up about her creative process and her ability to tune into the evolution of a pop-culture meme.

Photos of Lady Gaga in V Magazine.

"Glam culture is ultimately rooted in obsession," she says in the opening lines of the article, "and those of us who are truly devoted and loyal to the lifestyle of glamour are masters of its history. Or, to put it more elegantly, we are librarians. ...

"I myself can look at almost any hemline, silhouette, beadwork or heel architecture and tell you very precisely who designed it first, what French painter they stole it from, how many designers reinvented it after them and what cultural and musical movement parented the birth, death and resurrection of that particular trend," she writes in the lengthy note to her fans.

The singer then goes into great detail about her studies in the world of pop culture, explaining, "An expertise in the vocabulary of fashion, art and pop culture requires a tremendous amount of studying. My studio apartment on the LES, quite similar to many of my hotel suites now (knock on wood), was covered in inspiration," she says. "Everything from vintage books and magazines I found at the Strand on 12th Street to my dad's old Bowie posters to metal records from my best friend Lady Starlight to Aunt Merle's hand-me-down emerald-green designer pumps were sprawled all over the floor about two feet from my bathroom and four inches from my George Foreman Grill."

Lady Gaga Brings The Drama As 'American Idol' Mentor

In a getup worthy of Cruella de Vil, Gaga's offbeat, hands-on approach inspires 'Idol' wannabes.
By Adam Graham

Photo: FOX

Not every "American Idol" mentor would ask a contestant, "How do you feel about getting a little psycho?" Then again, not every "American Idol" mentor is Lady Gaga.

Yes, "Idol" got Gaga'd on Wednesday (May 11), as the pop superstar tutored the top four contestants while they worked through material from the songbook of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.

Dressed in typically grand Gaga fashion in a black leather ensemble and a blond bob wig, accentuated with a pronounced black streak and high black bangs, Gaga — her eyebrows bleached blond — looked like the spawn of Cruella de Vil and the lead character from "Pink Floyd the Wall." She immediately made her stamp as a judge when she challenged Haley Reinhart to make her performance a little more, well, "psycho."

With her eyes framed by an intricate black makeup job and sporting a large black dot painted on her right cheek, Gaga wasn't there to judge, she said, but rather to be a friend. "I just want to give them senses of inspiration and confidence," she said, "And to help them bring out what's really special about them."

For Reinhart, that meant drawing out her dramatic side. In her rendition of Ben E. King's "I (Who Have Nothing)," Gaga urged her to take a deep breath before delivering the song's defining lyric, a climactic "I love you."

"Give them drama!" Gaga pleaded. "Give them a little Edith Piaf. Give them a little, 'I'm crazy and I'm a laugh away from a tear.' " When she got her where she felt she wanted her, Gaga praised Reinhart. "She's gonna kick so much ass, little pony!" she said.

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina — who make up the country contingent of this year's competition — proved slightly more difficult subjects. When she felt McCreery wasn't properly singing into his microphone, Gaga told him, "Get right in the center of that hot dog." ("I don't know where Gaga was going with that," McCreery admitted.) She then told him to treat the mic like it was his girlfriend. "She says to you, 'If you don't stick your tongue down my throat, we're through, OK?' " Gaga instructed Scotty to imagine. "So you keep your mouth on that microphone if your life depends on it or that bitch is gonna leave you."

For his part, McCreery didn't know what to make of Gaga. "I knew going into it, it would be interesting," he said. "I don't think I was prepared for how interesting it was." McCreery said he felt like he needed to kiss his cross when they were through; Gaga apologized for pushing his boundaries, but said she "just wanted to open him up a bit."

Getting Alaina to open up was another obstacle. The teen had chosen to sing Elvis Presley's "Trouble," but balked at a line in the song that would require to say, "I'm evil." Gaga was the first person on the show to treat Alaina like a young woman and not a little girl. "Listen, you're not a kid, you're 16," she told her. She then asked her to inhabit the character of the song rather than getting tripped up by any particular lyrics. And when she finally got Alaina to accept the line, Gaga told her, "At the end of the day, the word 'evil' is not that big a deal, is it?'

The Elvis theme came back around during Gaga's mentoring of James Durbin, when she recommended Durbin swivel his hips like the King. "Get in your body a little more,' she suggested, and when he didn't immediately comply, she stood behind him, her hands on his hips, and moved them herself. "When you move those hips, you look sexy," she told him, encouraging him to shake his money-maker all over the "Idol" stage.

With her appearance on the singing show, Gaga became "Idol" 's topic of conversation for the second week in a row. Last week, Reinhart's decision to perform the not-yet-commercially-available "You and I," caused much controversy at the judging table. Credit Interscope Records head honcho and "Idol" mentor Jimmy Iovine for helping to turn "Idol" into a platform for one of his biggest artists, whose high-profile new album Born This Way is due May 23.

James Durbin Doesn't Think He 'Failed' On 'American Idol'

'I'm still clicking up the track,' latest castoff says of his post-'Idol' career.
By Gil Kaufman

James Durbin is eliminated on Thursday's "American Idol"
Photo: FOX

James Durbin had a weird feeling when he got to the "American Idol" studios on Thursday.

"Something was off with the kinetic energy," he said Friday (May 13) during a call with reporters. "I felt it in people's body language. ... There was a real somber feeling."

Asked if he was blindsided, then, by the news that he would be going home in fourth place on the show later that night, Durbin paused and said, "I'm not going to lie, I definitely was." He said he "freaked out" a bit just before the show went on air and had a feeling that his ride might be over.

With less than an hour of sleep since his surprise ouster, Durbin said the hours since his elimination had been a "whirlwind" of emotion. "I've been really thinking about why I came on this show and why I even auditioned in the first place," he said. "It's for my family and to try and give a voice to a genre of music that seems like it's slowly fading away. I really accomplished a lot on the show, and I'm grateful for the opportunity."

While other fourth-place finishers, including rocker Chris Daughtry, have said not winning "Idol" was probably the best thing that ever happened to them, Durbin said he understood that sentiment, but "winning would have been just great too."

He said his first instinct when host Ryan Seacrest broke the news was to think about how badly he'd wanted to win and fight back the feeling that somehow he'd failed. But after some time to reflect, Durbin said he'd come around on that thought. "I haven't failed at all," he said, adding a refrain often heard from "Idol" finalists. "This is just the beginning."

The singer, who provided one of the most emotionally engaging moments of the season with his tearful farewell, compared the journey on "Idol" to a roller coaster, saying it has loops and corkscrews and that while some people think of elimination as the first step toward the crazy ride down the other side of the fame hill, he sees it differently. "I'm still clicking up the track," he said of his wild ride yet to come. "I'm really, really stoked."

While some of his castmates have hooked up with movie starlets, Durbin said one of the biggest celebrity perks he enjoyed on "Idol" was becoming close to professional wrestler and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Chris Jericho, whose show is filmed at the same studio as "Idol." For the lifelong wrestling fan, who always idolized Jericho, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And given that Jericho fronts his own metal band, the boys bonded over body slams, life on the road and all things hard rock.

Given the Hollywood-ready arc of his story — from his Asperger's and Tourette's syndrome to the death of his musician father from a drug overdose when James was 9 years old — someone asked who the singer might like to see portray him in a movie. At first, he was speechless and then said he might want to do the honors himself. But then he suggested Matt Damon, since some people have said he resembles the actor, and maybe Steven Seagal for his older incarnation, since he used to rock a Seagal-like ponytail back in the day.

Durbin has lots of plans for his debut album. He'd like to work with Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, reunite with guitar legend Zakk Wylde and bring out his "secret weapon," his best friend from home who is a shredding guitar player. As he's said before, James wants to bring back the classic metal sound, starting with an iconic singer/guitarist pairing along the lines of Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne or Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

And given the chance, he'd like to re-create the sound of his favorite record, the 1983 debut from late Black Sabbath metal screamer and solo star Ronnie James Dio, Holy Diver. He wouldn't give any details, but Durbin said he heard the song that might be his first single Thursday. "I really dig it," he said of the unnamed tune. "It's something I can really work." He described it as having a heavy edge, but also being radio-friendly enough to get airplay.

With no regrets, Durbin did point out his one potential misstep on the show when asked why his number might have been called Thursday. Referring again to his friendship with wrestler Jericho, he noted that the last song Jericho danced to on "Stars" was, yes, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'."

" 'Don't Stop Believing' eliminated James Durbin, Chris Jericho and Tony Soprano," he said with a laugh.

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Brings On More Music-Video Man Candy

From Britney's 'Toxic' travel companion to Katy Perry's 'Teenage' dreamboat, there's plenty to drool over.
By Kara Warner

The main objective in making a music video is, of course, to showcase and promote the song in question. However, thanks to visionary artists, producers and directors, they've become much bigger productions, not to mention career launching pads for aspiring actors and models.

In honor of Lady Gaga's elaborate vid for "Judas," with Rick Gonzalez as Jesus and Norman Reedus as the title betrayer, we decided to turn our eyes and minds toward highlighting the hottest "man candy" in recent videos. (This isn't a sexist project, by the way: We already listed our favorite actresses-turned-video vixens when Megan Fox lit up the small screen in Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" clip.)

Matt Felker in Britney Spears' "Toxic"
This blond, Wisconsin-born hottie set hearts aflutter with his stint as a sexy theft victim/ Mile High Club applicant in Spears' high-flyin' spy thriller. Felker started out as a model and has been trying to get into the acting world as well.

Willy Monfret in Nicki Minaj's "Right Thru Me"
That French accent! Those blue-green eyes! Full-time model Monfret is pretty much the definition of man candy as Minaj's love interest in "Right Thru Me." His "performance" consists of our favorite major components: smoldering glances and shirtlessness.

Josh Kloss in Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream"
Another man who knows which notes to hit (see "smoldering" and "shirtlessness" above), Josh Kloss likely appeared in many teenage dreams after Perry's video hit. The former cowboy-turned-actor told People he's a hopeless romantic/hero type. Swoon.

William Levy in Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Into You"
Outside of his frolicking on the beach with Lopez, this Latin heartthrob is currently steaming up the small screen as Maximiliano Sandoval in Televisa's popular soap opera "Triunfo del Amor."

Dominic Monaghan in Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie"
It's not that we weren't aware of Monaghan's attractiveness before, but he seemed more cute/adorable vs. flat-out hot. And then Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" dropped, and we saw a new passionate and intense side to Monaghan that has us intrigued (save for the punching through walls part, though).

Nostalgia Hotties
Those of us who came of age in the '90s remember a few videos that introduced us to some key heartthrobs:

» Antonio Sabato Jr., batting his pretty lashes at Janet Jackson in her gorgeous "Love Will Never Do (Without You).

» Tyson Beckford, for taking a shower with Toni Braxton in "Un-break My Heart."

» Stephen Dorff for breaking Alicia Silverstone's heart (and later making her jump off a bridge) in Aerosmith's "Cryin'." Bonus points go out to Dorff for also appearing in Britney Spears' "Everytime," which he recently revisited with us.

Who did we miss? Who is your favorite music-video man candy? Tell us in the comments!

Selena Gomez Producer Weighs In On Britney Spears Songwriting Rumors

Kevin Rudolf says the work he's doing on Gomez's new album 'has nothing to do with Britney.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Last week, "Round and Round" producer Kevin Rudolf was quoted as praising not one but three tracks Britney Spears reportedly penned for Selena Gomez's new album. But when MTV News spoke to Rudolf recently, he denied knowing anything about the tracks Britney wrote for Gomez.

"I honestly don't know anything about it," he said. "I never said that ... I don't know. I didn't hear anything about it. I'm doing some stuff for it [Gomez's album], but it has nothing to do with Britney," he said.

Well, with that rumor cleared up, he went on to describe what he and Gomez are actually up to in the studio, which includes writing "a great song. As far as the new stuff goes, it's about trying to write a great song and hope it's something she connects with, really. It's not that deep. It's really hard to guess where people are in their lives, and I don't try to do that. If I'm writing for someone, I get a sense of what they're about and then I do what I would do," he explained. "I think it's gonna honestly be more straight, not straight dance, but straight pop; hopefully really great songs."

Once Rudolf wraps up work with Gomez, he has some other big projects up his sleeve. "I'm working on a lot of new stuff. I'm really excited about another album of my own that I'm working on. I think I get typecast outside of the producer world as rock/rap, the Cash Money thing or with Wayne on the track. It's really not what I'm about at all. It's one side of me that came out in the beginning," he said. "I really want to use this album to transform people's visions of myself ... more organic, more heartfelt."

Rudolf also teased about helping out Wayne on his forthcoming Tha Carter IV album. "I mean it's awesome [that Wayne's back]. The thing about Wayne is he's been the most supportive person at Cash Money. He's really on my side and he's just really backed me up since day one. And I really appreciate him for that," he said. "Obviously, Baby and Slim found me there and they kind of, I guess, discovered me, but Wayne always wanted to get on the tracks and always wants me to bring him stuff. ... We're working on some stuff for Tha Carter IV and it's all good stuff."
